At break, Nets in very good shape, despite everything

Photo by Maria Lysaker/NBAE via It’s been a wild first half of the season, with the roster makeover driven by the James Harden trade, Kyrie Irving’s still a bit mysterious “personal leave” and the team’s ability to win, win, win even without Kevin Durant. They’re currently 24-13, a half game behind the 76ers in the East. Only three teams have better records, the Sixers, the Jazz and the Suns (!!). The Lakers and Clippers, once seen as their likely Finals opponents, are 3-7 and 4-6. And franchise records keep falling. Brooklyn is currently on a seven-game...

Brooklyn Nets: James Harden’s triple-double prowess is already making history

Before James Harden landed with the Brooklyn Nets via trade, it appeared as if Jason Kidd’s franchise record for triple-doubles, which stands at 61, would never come close to being challenged. Despite James Harden trade, Nets will have options in 2021 NBA Draft

Photo by Sarah Stier/ The price for James Harden was high. In the four-team deal, Brooklyn had to give up four players: Caris LeVert, Jarrett Allen, Taurean Prince and Rodions Kurucs, $2.6 million in cash considerations and control of all their first round picks going forward: unprotected picks in 2022, 2024 and 2026 plus the right to swap picks in 2021, 2023, 2025 and 2027. All of them are bound for Houston. Whew. All that said, the Nets look like they’ll have plenty of options whenever the NBA Draft is held in the summer ... or at the deadline later this month when...

How Tyler Cook’s signing shows Nets still look for ‘diamonds-in-the-rough’

Photo by Juan Ocampo/NBAE via The Nets, rightfully, are looking at the present more than the future. Having three of the best players in the NBA in their primes will do that. But despite losing two of their best young players in Caris LeVert and Jarrett Allen in the trade that brought James Harden to Brooklyn —not to mention control of their first rounders through 2027, the Nets are still looking at development as a priority. NBA Rumors: Nets Might Trade Spencer Dinwiddie Before Deadline, ‘Bleacher Report’ Predicts

Although it’s highly likely he will be out for the rest of the season with a partially torn ACL, there could be a possibility Spencer Dinwiddie will be moved by the Brooklyn Nets on or before the March 25 trade deadline, Bleacher Report predicted on Tuesday. As explained by the outlet’s Dan Favale, the Nets’ offense has become even more potent since James Harden arrived from the Houston Rockets to join fellow superstars Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving. However, their defense only ranks 23rd in terms of points allowed per possession and since it’s “not built to be much better,” the...

FILM STUDY: Is the Brooklyn Nets’ defense turning the corner?

Andy Marlin-USA TODAY Sports Since making the James Harden trade, the Brooklyn Nets have made headlines... a lot of which were for the wrong reasons. Brooklyn’s defense, which had allowed 119 points per 100 possessions prior to Wednesday’s game, ranked 27th out of 30 teams since the date of the Harden trade. This, of course, was highlighted by the disparaging 122-111 loss against the league-worst Detroit Pistons.
