Happy Birthday James!

Happy Birthday James!

Today is James’ birthday, and perhaps it’s appropriate that it falls on tax day every year. Just as taxes come due every April 15th, you always know that, rain or shine he’ll be there for you, no matter what. I’ve known him for nearly eight years now, and although I like to think of myself as a good guy, knowing James has helped show me just how far I still have to go. If you have a moment, shoot him an email and say hello. A rousing ‘Happy Birthday’ to James ‘Lemme Tell You About My Boy Bernardrick’ McKinney!

We are two weeks away from the NFL Draft meaning the speculation around what the Dolphins will do in the first round will come to an end. We do know the Dolphins need some playmakers which is why Ja’Marr Chase and Kyle Pitts are...

2021 NFL Mock Draft: Nogle 2.0 sees Dolphins lose out on two top targets

2021 NFL Mock Draft: Nogle 2.0 sees Dolphins lose out on two top targets

Photo by Michael Reaves/ Why do we add a decimal point to our mock draft numbers? Is there going to be a 2.1 version? I do not plan to make small adjustments. I guess it is just something we do. Anyway, after that rambling introduction, it has been about two weeks since I put together my first 2021 NFL Mock Draft. We are just over two weeks away from the 2021 NFL Draft, so it seems like a perfect time for me to take another look at the first round and see what I think might happen on April 29. 1. Jacksonville Jaguars - Trevor Lawrence, QB, Clemson No surprise here. 3/31...

Three of the NFL Draft’s top prospects compare to these recent Miami draft busts

Three of the NFL Draft’s top prospects compare to these recent Miami draft busts

Photo by Mike Ehrmann/ Mockdraftable.com has a few interesting comparisons for some of the NFL draft’s top prospects One of my favorite yearly NFL Draft traditions is heading over to Mockdraftable.com to see how some of my favorite draft prospects measured and performed at the combine and their pro days. After all, not only do they combine each player’s measurements and testing into an aesthetically pleasing spider chart, but they also compare each prospect’s numbers against players of yesteryear. (You might know where I’m going with this) Now before we go any...

The Splash Zone 4/14/21: Could Xavien Howard Be Traded?

Photo by Mark Brown/ Welcome to the Splash Zone, the quickest way to get your day started off right. We bring you a rundown of Miami Dolphins news from the last 24 hours. It’s been discussed a few times since the season ended, would the Dolphins trade Xavien Howard for the right price? If this was back around the time Laremy Tunsil got traded, I could definitely see Howard on the move for some picks. But right now this team is just a few pieces away from being a contender and having Howard on the team just makes this defense so good. You can check out...

With A Run On QB’s Likely, Grier Looks Even Smarter

With A Run On QB’s Likely, Grier Looks Even Smarter

Photo by Mark Brown/ Some scoffed when I said a year ago that three quarterbacks could be selected in the first four picks of the 2020 draft; it ended up being three of the first six. With just three weeks remaining until the 2021 draft, it’s increasingly looking like the first three picks will all be quarterbacks, and that at least one of the two picks directly ahead of Miami’s sixth slot, the Atlanta Falcons’ 4th pick or the Bengals’ 5th selection, could well end up being traded to a quarterback needy team, as well, for a total of four of the first five picks...

2021 Mel Kiper Mock Draft 2.0: Dolphins trade up for first-round pick

2021 Mel Kiper Mock Draft 2.0: Dolphins trade up for first-round pick

Photo by Michael Reaves/ The Miami Dolphins started the offseason with the third- and 18th-overall picks in the 2021 NFL Draft. The 18th pick is their own selection, coming from their 2020 regular season performance. The third pick was given to Miami as part of the 2019 trade of Laremy Tunsil to the Houston Texans. The Dolphins have since sent that third pick to the San Francisco 49ers for the 12th-overall pick, then turned around and sent the 12th pick to the Philadelphia Eagles for the sixth selection. In his new 2021 NFL Mock Draft, ESPN’s Mel Kiper, Jr., thinks...

The Splash Zone 4/13/21: Would The Dolphins Choose Waddle Over Smith?

The Splash Zone 4/13/21: Would The Dolphins Choose Waddle Over Smith?

Reinhold Matay-USA TODAY Sports Welcome to the Splash Zone, the quickest way to get your day started off right. We bring you a rundown of Miami Dolphins news from the last 24 hours. I’m not going to act like I know what the Dolphins have planned in their draft room because nobody has a clue what this team plans on doing. I think we can all agree that a pass catcher is high up on the list. So let’s say Kyle Pitts and Ja’Marr Chase are off the board when the Dolphins select at #6. That would leave the team to choose between one of the Alabama wide...

Phinsider Question Of The Day 04/12/2021

Phinsider Question Of The Day 04/12/2021

Every team in the NFL has made this one mistake, they take a player in the draft that they either see something in, aka the ability to develop them into what they want him to be or the already assume, based on his college playing time that he is going to be a total stud at the next level in the NFL if not immediatly, shortly thereafter. Then the guy shows up and over a period of 2 to 3, maybe even up to 4 to 5 years, plays okay but never really becomes the player that the wanted him to be and they wind up replacing him with a cheaper option or a cheaper draft pick. Then the guy...

The Splash Zone 4/12/21: Dolphins Host 11th Annual Challenge Cancer Event

Photo by Mark Brown/ Welcome to the Splash Zone, the quickest way to get your day started off right. We bring you a rundown of Miami Dolphins news from the last 24 hours. For the past decade, the Dolphins have hosted their annual Dolphins Challenge event to raise money for cancer research. Over the weekend, the event raised more than $5 million where all these proceeds will go to the Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center. It’s a great event for a great cause and it’s one of the biggest fundraisers in the NFL. You can check out that story here, and...

Which former Dolphins player still in the NFL would you want back?

Which former Dolphins player still in the NFL would you want back?

Photo by Mark Brown/ This evening, we are going to have a little fun. Looking around the NFL, there are plenty of former Miami Dolphins players on other teams. Maybe it is someone who just signed with a new team in free agency like linebacker Kyle Van Noy or quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick. Or maybe you are looking at someone who has been gone for a few years like running back Lamar Miller or defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh. Who is the right player for you to bring back to the Dolphins? My choice is wide receiver Jarvis Landry. The Dolphins need to add a slot receiver....

CAPTION THIS! | Chris Grier and George Godsey meet with Ja’Marr Chase at LSU’s Pro Day

We are back ladies and gentleman with another CAPTION THIS! Today’s CAPTION THIS! image comes courtesy of Scratch Cat Reader’s BillyM_91. During LSU’s pro day, Billy was able to screengrab this iconic photo of Miami Dolphins general manager Chris Grier and Co-offensive coordinator George Godsey in deep conversation with LSU wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase. CAPTION THIS! Now obviously, the Dolphins are doing their due diligence on all NFL prospects. Especially those that may be available with the #6 overall pick. But let’s not play coy. Miami has a huge need at wide...

Peter Schrager: I have never gotten responses like I did from Dolphins fans

Photo by Rich Graessle/Icon Sportswire via The Good Morning Football Host ruffled more than a few Miami fans’ feathers with his recent mock draft. If you’ve been anywhere around the Twittersphere recently, you’ve probably seen the latest mock draft from Good Morning Football host Peter Schrager, which Josh Houtz recently discussed here. Schrager’s mock draft starts off quarterback heavy, with the Jags-Jets-Niners going Trevor Lawrence-Zach Wilson-Mac Jones. He has the Patriots trading up from 15 to 4 to nab their future QB in Justin Fields. Honestly,...

Photo by Harry How/ Welcome to the Splash Zone, the quickest way to get your day started off right. We bring you a rundown of Miami Dolphins news from the last 24 hours. Byron Jones was on NFL Network this past week to talk about the Dolphins and discussed a variety of things. Jones will be entering his second year with the team after joining the team through free agency last offseason which brings us to the reason he joined the team. He sees a bunch of young guys and feels the team is being built the right way. But this team will only go as far as the...
