Chargers Daily Links: Bolts drop 1 spot in ESPN’s latest power rankings

Chargers Daily Links: Bolts drop 1 spot in ESPN’s latest power rankings

Photo by Sean M. Haffey/ Your source for all Chargers and NFL news from around the web. After their second-straight loss of the young season, the Chargers aren’t exactly where they thought they’d be after the first three weeks of the season. When you looked at their first trio of contests - Bengals, Chiefs, Panthers - many assumed their record would likely have been 2-1. But sadly, their 1-2 and are essentially a shanked field goal away from being 0-3. But if you look at it with a glass half-full point of view, they’re a 58-yard field goal and a bad lateral away from being 3-0. So...

Chris Harris out 1 month with foot injury

Chris Harris out 1 month with foot injury

Photo by Joe Scarnici/ The Bolts will be without the veteran for 4-6 weeks. The hits just keep coming for the Chargers defense. Late Monday evening, NFL insider Ian Rapoport broke the news that cornerback Chris Harris Jr. will likely miss the next four to six weeks with a foot injury he sustained Sunday against the Carolina Panthers. Even from the broadcast angle, it it did not look good for the veteran as his ankle looked be rolled as he took on a blocker. Sources: #Chargers CB Chris Harris Jr suffered a foot injury in the team’s loss to the #Panthers that is expected to keep him...

MNF Open Thread: Chiefs @ Ravens

MNF Open Thread: Chiefs @ Ravens

Photo by Bob Levey/ It’s the game of the year and it’s only Week 3. Patrick Mahomes and the high-flying Chiefs take on the explosive Ravens and Lamar Jackson. It’s a battle between the past two league MVPs and you honestly could not ask for a better matchup just three weeks into the season. If the Chiefs lose tonight, that will mean the entire AFC West lost in Week 3, which is perfectly okay with me after yesterday’s result. If the Chargers are going to lose, everyone else may as well lose, too. Feel free to discuss the game below. Enjoy the game.

Chargers Week 3 snaps counts

Chargers Week 3 snaps counts

Photo by Harry How/ Some defensive lineman were probably more gassed than usual on Sunday. Not much to say about Sunday’s game other than it was as frustrating as the rest of them. The Bolts were without a few more starters and it showed against the Panthers. On to Tampa Bay. Here are the Week 3 snap counts along with my notes and thoughts. Offense Notes Ekeler’s snap share shot way up this week after splitting opportunities almost down the middle with Kelley against the Chiefs. We’ll still have to wait and see if that’s the case going forward but good things seem...

Chargers Daily Links: What silver linings did you take from Sunday’s game?

Chargers Daily Links: What silver linings did you take from Sunday’s game?

Photo by Harry How/ Your source for all Chargers and NFL news from around the web. Good morning, everyone. It’s a normal Monday, which is an absolute bummer. The Bolts lost yesterday in frustrating fashion to a team that looked prepared to get steam-rolled, but that just wasn’t the case. I think yesterday’s contest is setting us up to have a constructive conversation on all the things that could be holding the Bolts back from taking another step forward. At the same time, while we try to navigate our way through the negative, it’s going to be just as critical to locate all the...

Chargers down themselves with 4 turnovers in 21-16 loss to Panthers

Chargers down themselves with 4 turnovers in 21-16 loss to Panthers

Photo by Sean M. Haffey/ You can’t win if you’re fighting yourself and the other team. The Chargers will have to wait a few more weeks to record their first win inside SoFi Stadium after dropping today’s matchup in a 21-16 blunder that ended on a botched hook n’ ladder from Keenan Allen to Austin Ekeler. That play would have been the game-winner as Ekeler had nobody in front of him, but the lateral wasn’t on point from Allen and the ball was fumbled away as time expired. Both teams started slow with each going three-and-out through their opening drives. Carolina was the first...

SNF Open Thread: Packers @ Saints

Photo by Dylan Buell/ Both teams will be without their star receivers tonight. The 2-0 Packers are taking on the 1-1 Saints in a battle that would have been flush with talent but either side will be without their star wide receivers as both Davante Adams and Michael Thomas will miss tonight’s contest with injuries. It’s still a matchup with two future Hall-of-Famers and that’s all the reason you need to tune in. Enjoy the game and feel free to discuss it down below in the comments.

Chargers fall to Panthers, 21-16

Photo by Harry How/ LA’s come-from-behind efforts fell just short against Carolina Justin Herbert drew the second start of his career and despite a valiant effort in the second half, the Los Angeles Chargers fell to the Carolina Panthers, 21-16. Herbert and the Chargers dropped to 1-2 on the season while the Panthers recorded their first win of the season. LA took their first and only lead of the game at 7-6 when Austin Ekeler scored from 12 yards out to start the second quarter and the Chargers red-zone defense had been successful on two tries, limiting Carolina to just six points on...

Dan Feeney came up limping following field goal

Photo by Harry How/ Following a Michael Badgley field goal attempt, center Dan Feeney came up limping. We do not know the severity of the injury at this point but will update you all when more info is made available. If he is unable to return, expect Scott Quessenberry to hold down the pivot for the Chargers. #Chargers C Dan Feeney is limping off. Bryan Bulaga headed to locker room, Chris Harris shaken up

Photo by Joe Scarnici/ Not a lot of good luck in this one so far. Chargers right tackle Bryan missed a handful of plays in the first half before returning. In the third quarter, he has left the game once again and second-year tackle Trey Pipkins is in for him. Bulaga also missed some time against the Chiefs last Sunday but he worked his way to a ful participation in the week’s final practice. We’ll update this with new information as it comes. Cornerback Chris Harris also went down for what looks like an ankle injury where he got rolled up on after a gang tackle.

Photo by Joe Scarnici/ In the middle of the second quarter, free safety Nasir Adderley was shaken up after tackling wide receiver Robbie Anderson. He was helped off the field and Desmond King has replaced him. We will update this with more news as it comes out. Update 2:12pm: Adderley is back in at free safety. Update 2:13pm: LB Kyzir White is down after making a tackle Denzel Perryman is taking his snaps as a linebacker in the Nickel. Game Thread: Panthers @ Chargers

Photo by Harry How/ Let’s see what Herbert can do with a real week of practice! It’s almost game time and if you’re anything like me, you can’t sit still as you’re being racked with anticipation and excitement about today’s matchup. Today is rookie quarterback Justin Herbert’s second career start, but it’s his first start with an actual week of practice as QB1. Anthony Lynn and Shane Steichen both stated that they kept the playbook pretty simple during last week’s game, so it wouldn’t be a surprise to see the team open things up even more against the Panthers and...

Chargers Week 2 Inactives: Turner, Vigil are OUT

Photo by Joe Scarnici/ This will be Turner’s second missed game in three weeks. The Chargers will be without a few starters on both sides of the ball in Week 3 as offensive guard Trai Turner, who made his season debut last Sunday, will be out again after missing the team’s 2020 opener in Cincinnati. It will either be Tyree St. Louis or Ryan Groy in his place at right guard. On the positive side, right tackle Bryan Bulaga will start after missing most of the Chiefs game. #CARvsLAC Inactives:Tyrod TaylorJason MooreJustin JacksonNick VigilTrai TurnerStorm NortonDonald Parham Jr....

Tyrod Taylor expected to miss Week 4

Photo by Harry How/ It’s what we all expected to hear. It’s long been known that Tyrod Taylor was not going to play this week against the Panthers, but it’s now being reported that he’s likely to miss next week’s contest against the Buccaneers as he continues to recover from cracked ribs and the medical mishap that led to a punctured lung. The Chargers 2020 New Era sideline hats have dropped!

The Chargers 2020 New Era sideline hats have dropped!

Fanatics Are you copping this hat? Good morning and happy game day, Chargers fans! The Bolts take on the Panthers this afternoon in Justin Herbert’s second start for the Bolts after a stellar performance against the reigning Super Bowl champions this past Sunday. It took the Chiefs making a 58-yard field goal in overtime to down the Chargers, and I have a feeling things won’t be that close in today’s contest. In preparation, or celebration, for the rest of the season, check out the latest hat dropped by New Era this week! I’m a big fan of the classic look and the use of the...
