Carolina Hurricanes vs. Florida Panthers: Preview and Game Hub

James Guillory-USA TODAY Sports The Canes are back home Saturday, looking to continue their status as a preseason wrecking ball. The Carolina Hurricanes have opened up the 2022 preseason a tour de force, starting things out with a 5-1 win over the Lightning and a 5-2 win over the Panthers. The win over Florida was extra impressive for the Canes, who beat an NHL-heavy Panthers group with a not-so-NHL-heavy roster themselves. Stefan Noesen, Derek Stepan, Justin Robidas, Vasiliy Ponomarev and Jack Drury scored in the game. Now the Canes will be back home to take on the...

The Weight of Expectations: How two of the youngest Canes are looking to push themselves, team further

James Guillory-USA TODAY Sports Two of the youngest Hurricanes joined the team the same year, but came aboard with vastly different expectations and found dramatically different results. Now each is looking to push the team to the ultimate goal. At the start of the 2021-22 NHL season, the Carolina Hurricanes were welcoming in a lot of new faces. A disappointing loss to the eventual cup champion Tampa Bay Lightning and impending crunches of a flat cap had set the stage for some major roster upheaval. The Hurricanes decided to lean towards older players and a good amount...

After a 4-1 win over the Lightning in Raleigh Tuesday, the Canes will continue their preseason slate against another former Southeast Division foe tonight, as they take on the Florida Panthers in Sunrise. While Carolina’s lineup Tuesday largely resembled what their opening night roster might look like, especially at forward, tonight’s game will be mostly the opposite, with a roster that will more closely resemble that of the Chicago Wolves this year. Carolina Hurricanes at Florida Panthers: Preview

James Guillory-USA TODAY Sports The kids hit the road for a preseason test against the Florida Panthers. It’s preseason game No. 2 for the Carolina Hurricanes as a team, but it’ll be a completely different roster for the Canes Thursday night in Florida. This time it’s mostly the prospects playing, with a few older guys mixed in. Calvin de Haan and Derek Stepan, both on professional try outs, are on the roster tonight. There’s other guys with a legitimate shot of making the Canes’ roster playing, too, including a number of defensemen and forwards Stefan...
