NBA: Memphis Grizzlies next 3 games postponed for contact tracing

Justin Ford-USA TODAY Sports Well this stinks The Memphis Grizzlies’ next 3 games have been postponed, according to the NBA (and confirmed by numerous outlets). Friday night’s game against the Portland Trail Blazers, along with Sunday and Monday games against the Sacramento Kings are postponed in accordance with the NBA’s Health and Safety Protocols. The games are being postponed due to contact tracing on the Grizzlies side. According to The New York Times Marc Stein, this brings the league total to 20 postponements, with the Grizzlies involved with 4 of them....

Back to the Future in Memphis

Photo by Joe Murphy/NBAE via This year’s Grizzlies are winning through a modern roster embracing a nostalgic philosophy. If the Grizzlies take the court tomorrow (which we certainly hope they can with some positive news), they will hope to continue their winning ways in pursuit of their first playoff appearance in four years. Two weeks ago, few thought that was still possible. Now, after a five game winning streak, this team is winning due to committing to an emerging identity and its best talents returning. As a result, the playoff pursuit is gaining validity by...

Grizzlies Advocate: Is now the time to deal?

Photo by Stephen Gosling/NBAE via Time to trade? Once the James Harden trade went down, and the realization that he’s going to team up with Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving settled in, the question who’s next revolved around NBA Twitter. In the general sense, it was Bradley Beal, who’s leading the league in scoring for an (once again) underwhelming Washington Wizards team. For Grizzlies Twitter, it was Beal and Zach LaVine. I’m totally for anything that makes this team better, and one of these players would instantly become the most talented player the Memphis...

The Memphis Grizzlies will make the playoffs

The Memphis Grizzlies will make the playoffs

Photo by Joe Murphy/NBAE via Short of a significant injury, history is on the Grizzlies’ side. In the book of Proverbs found in the Bible, it is written: “The way of a fool is right in his own eyes, but a wise man listens to counsel.” To put that verse in more simple terms, it essentially means that wise people are open to the advice of others. And they will even change their minds once new information becomes available to them. Over a week ago, I was barely giving any thought to the idea that the Memphis Grizzlies may be able to make the playoffs. I did, of...

Photo by Justin Ford/ How good can Morant become? The Memphis Grizzlies are above .500 after defeating a clear playoff favorite in the Western Conference on national television while not getting any contributions from two of their best five or so players. What a time to be alive. Not too long ago, when the team’s young superstar Ja Morant went down with a grade 2 ankle sprain, there were some clamoring for a tank job if Ja were to be out for an extended period. Dreams of Jalen Suggs and Cade Cunningham were running through the heads of members of Grizz Nation. Those...

Quick Recap: Grizzlies outshine the Suns on MLK Day

Photo by Joe Murphy/NBAE via Best win of the season The Grizzlies MLK Day matchup against the Suns was almost over before it even started. A little less than 24-hours prior to tipoff, ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reported that the Philadelphia 76ers Sunday night matchup against the Oklahoma City Thunder was postponed due to the Sixers Saturday night game against the Grizzlies. Shortly after, the Grizzlies revealed Jonas Valanciunas was out for tonight’s game due to Health and Safety Protocols. There were plenty of conversations between the NBA, Grizzlies and Suns...
