The Astros Announce Their 26-man Roster

Robel Garcia #9 of the Houston Astros: the spoiler | Photo by Michael Reaves/ No TCBer’s quite got it right. Per Jake Kaplan, this is the 26-man Astros roster heading into opening day. Framber Valdez, Andre Scrubb, Josh James, and Austin Pruitt were place on the 10-day IL. Jake Odorizzi was optioned as a “paper move.” Unless I missed something, none of our TCBer’s accurately predicted this roster, though a few were close. The biggest surprise was Robel Garcia making utility over Abraham Toro. The closest prediction was made by ABlindHog who made...

Astros: Odorizzi will not make the Opening Day roster

The Houston Astros went all in on Jake Odorizzi, after Framber Valdez’s finger injury, but the right-hander will not be ready for Opening Day. While his first spring training start as an Astro will be on Wednesday, Odorizzi won’t have enough starts to be fully ramped up for the season. Although, this move could hurt the chances of Steve Cishek making the roster. As […] Astros: Examining how Steve Cishek can make the 40-man - Climbing Tals Hill - Climbing Tals Hill - A Houston Astros Fan Site - News, Blogs, Opinion and More

Sam Navarro-USA TODAY Sports For the first time in seemingly forever, the Astros finally have some good injury news. The Astros are better and deeper with a healthy Framber Valdez than not in 2021. There is nothing controversial about that statement. When it was reported earlier this month that last year’s breakout could possibly miss the entire 2021 season with a fractured ring finger on his pitching hand, it only intensified the bright light already on the club’s obvious weakness. By the way, that weakness is still present even with newcomer Jake Odorizzi on the...
