Aaron Sanchez only made it through 2.2 innings in his fourth start since coming over in a trade from the Mariners. He gave up 6 hits, including home runs by Yuli Gurriel and Kyle Tucker adding up to 6 earned. His ERA with the sim Jays is now 6.63 and he’s 0-2. Anthony Kay takes his first loss of the 2020 sim season. It is only his 6th start. He was called up in early July to take Chase Anderson’s rotation spot. Kay pitched 6 innings plus 3 batters, allowed 5 hits, 4 earned, 3 walks with no strikeouts. Kay was cruising until the sixth inning. In the sixth he hit Kyle Tucker and gave up a single to Michael Brantley. A wild pitch and a George Springer singled scored a run against him. In the...

Blue Jays: Decision on Chase Anderson’s option not so simple

The Blue Jays hold a 9.5 million dollar option to retain Chase Anderson for 2021, and while it’s possible they could pass, it’s not a clear-cut decision. Even though the season just finished for the Blue Jays, I’m sure the front office is already hard at work on the 2021 campaign ahead. Soon enough they’re […] Blue Jays: Decision on Chase Anderson’s option not so simple - Jays Journal - Jays Journal - Toronto Blue Jays News, Rumors and Fan Community

OOTP Season Sim: Game 114, Jays lose to Rays

Photo by Mike Ehrmann/ This game was the August 4th game. Game two of a three game set with the Rays. Rays 3 Blue Jays 2 A closer game than the thumping the Jays took in the last one. Tanner Roark got the start. He came out of the game with an injury after 2.1 scoreless innings. It is just a day-to-day injury, he will be able to make his next start. But it did make the bullpen throw a lot of innings: Chase Anderson: 1.2 scoreless innings, allowing 1 hit with 2 strikeouts. He threw 34 pitches in the Jays last game. Kyle Crockett (who was a waiver claim from the Cardinals, in the sim...

Jays Playoff Roster

Jays Playoff Roster

Photo by Timothy T Ludwig/ The Blue Jays announced their playoff roster. The surprises, to me? Anthony Kay is on. I guess they wanted another lefty. No Jordan Romano. And Rowdy Tellez is on. I hope that means he’ll play, not just pinch-hit. Of course, how is his swing, will it take a game or two to get his timing? Reese McGuire was picked over Caleb Joseph. Not a surprise, no Tanner Roark, no Shun Yamaguchi. The list: 13 pitchers: Chase Anderson Anthony Bass Ryan Borucki A.J. Cole Rafael Dolis Thomas Hatch Anthony Kay Nate Pearson Robbie Ray Hyun Jin Ryu Matt Shoemaker Ross...

Jays win second last game of the season

Jays win second last game of the season

Photo by Timothy T Ludwig/ Orioles 2 Blue Jays 5 Winning the penultimate game is nice. We got an excellent start out of T.J. Zeuch. 5 innings, 5 hits, 0 walks, 0 strikeouts. I bet we haven’t had a pitching line of 4 or more innings with no walks or strikeouts this season. Zeuch was just a ground ball machine. 11 ground outs to 1 fly out. I’m wondering if his 5 innings takes him out of the discussion for a spot on the playoff roster. Chase Anderson was terrific in 2 innings of relief. He struck out the side in his first inning. In his second inning, he gave up a single, while...

GameThread Game #55: Yankees at Blue Jays

Photo by Timothy T Ludwig/ The Jays could ensure a series split today, but it’ll be a tough task up against Gerrit Cole. However, spark plug Alejandro Kirk is in the lineup again, so anything is possible. Here’s how our starters line up for the rest of the series: The #BlueJays will go with Robbie Ray tomorrow, then Hyun Jin Ryu on Thursday.Chase Anderson, for now, will pitch out of the bullpen.— Keegan Matheson (@KeeganMatheson) September 22, 2020 Some positive news on Jordan Romano: Cool to see almost the entire #Bluejays pitching staff watching Romano throw. They know...
